I've been involved in social media for about three years now, but rarely as a way to earn money online except through Twitter. When I saw the title of this book, I knew I needed to check it out. I was already on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc. but only because I was told to through various courses I was taking as I was learning how to build websites.Never did I think that they would also be a way to earn money.
Then, when I did start hearing that people were earning money through social media, it was still a mystery to me. When I came upon Martha Giffen's website and her book, I grabbed it up. This book has given me the information I needed to begin looking at those social media sites in a different way - as a way to increase my income.
If you saw my copy of Be Social Be Rich, you would see all the underlining, highlighting, and notes in the margins. There is that much great information.
One thing really impressed me about the author. While I was reading one chapter I had a question that wasn't answered in the book. So, I went onto Facebook and sent Martha a private message with the question. She not only answered me right away, she also provided a link to give me further information, and also placed the answer on her FB page for others to access as well. She was very gracious in her response.
I've never met Martha and only occasionally visit her website, but I would very much suggest if you want to learn more about how to make money online, especially through your social media contacts, this is the book for you.

I just finished Martha's book "Be Social Be Rich," and I couldn't wait to pen this review. Martha and I had just met at a live west coast event (she walks the talk people), but we were already Facebook friends, so I knew her reputation online. Okay… I was start struck, but her southern hospitality put me quickly to ease. Now to her book.
It starts in the beginning by defining social media and introduces you to a few of the top channels (twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), so it's great for people just getting started. The book is chock full of invaluable tips that you'll want to keep post near your monitor and re-read every day (think mantras) to be successful on social media.
Not only does Martha tell you what to do (e.g., have fun, don't be afraid, be yourself, work it consistently) but she tells you what not to do (e.g., be negative, over-promote). These are just a small sample of all the tips and strategies that you'll get Martha and three guest writers making this book an excellent investment for experienced social media users as well. Mostly, I think you'll love the easy-going style of this book that guides you along gently educating you every step of the way.

Martha Giffen is CEO of Best Kind Marketing, LLC. She has built a successful business using social networking to connect with people "one person at a time." She has co-authored a best-selling book, produced a popular Twitter training program, created motivational audios, and been featured on numerous talk radio shows. She blogs about methods and techniques to help entrepreneurs build thier own online businesses.
Martha Giffen loves people and she understands the power of building relationships. In "Be Social Be Rich Social Networking Your Way to Endless Profits!", she shares the experiences that have helped her build a successful business. Martha is a Twitter Guru and she explains many methods that have helped her meet people, build relationships and get clients. She has used a personal page and fan page to network with hundreds of people on Facebook.
Mrs. Giffen explains how to use LinkedIn as a business networking tool. She explains that the profile is very important and is the basis for connecting with other people in your niche. I really enjoyed the chapter entitled, "Secrets of Seminar Networking". I have never attended an internet marketing seminar so I was very interested in this topic. Martha tells how she has met some very influential internet marketers by attending seminars. She explains how she has met many seminar speakers and presenters during after-hours meals and gatherings.
Mrs. Giffen included informative articles by Warren Whitlock, Dabney Porte, and Christina Hills to add more value to this virtual gold mine of social media information.
I REALLY like this book because....
it provides the "total picture" of what is needed to thrive and succeed in the world of social media marketing. Mrs. Giffen makes it very clear that building relationships must always come before the sales pitch. This means getting out of your comfort zone and reaching out to people.
This book will inspire and motivate you. I have a feeling that Martha will touch your heart just like she did mine. I learned that "being social" can lead to financial riches but more importantly, it will provide opportunities to develop relationships and friendships that will last a lifetime.
If you are overwhelmed by the ins and outs of social media, this is the book for you. This is an easy to read user's manual for managing your social medial, online presence. Martha lays everything out for you in plain language and in a way that is easy to apply. She explains the mechanics of social media AND the social nuances and potential pitfalls to avoid. This is the whole enchilada. Love this book!
"Be Social, Be Rich" is a guide that shows us the fine art of building relationships with our customers and each other. What I learned from Martha Giffen is that Social Media is a platform for caring about humanity and your caring is returned by the nature of the Law of Reciprocity. Giving and receiving is not mutually exclusive. Social media can teach us this.
I refer to Martha's book and naturally am friends with her on Face Book and Twitter as well as Blog Talk Radio, et cetera. She is a giver.
